Principal's Message

Welcome to Manordale Public School – ”Home of the Wolves”!!!

At Manordale Public School (MPS) we thank the Algonquin Anishinaabe People, and respectfully acknowledge that our learning, playing, and growing takes place on their unceded, and unsurrendered territory, and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.

It is a pleasure and honour to begin a new journey of learning as the Principal of  MPS for the 2022-2023 school year. Through my many experiences working with and alongside students, staff & communities I have come to know that learning requires a team approach and it is strong relationships and connections that result in the richest learning. Through our rich learning opportunities and focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusive education, it is my hope that we will build strong relationships together and a sense of belonging where each student feels included, safe to take risks in learning, and will gain the knowledge and skills to become independent, lifelong learners.

MPS is a dual track K-6 site. Our programs include Regular English with Core French and Early French Immersion (EFI) program. All together our student population is approximately 330 students. We are incredibly proud of the diverse backgrounds and experiences our students and staff have to offer one another. Our MPS staff comprises a principal, vice-principal, teachers, EAs, ECEs, a Library Technician, Office Administrator, Office Assistant, & Custodial staff. Together with  dedicated community volunteers & OCDSB support staff we provide a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment for all students.

At MPS, we recognize that all students and staff have their own lived experiences and we seek to celebrate what makes each of us uniquely human. Students are encouraged to engage in conversation about student life at MPS and share input into, and participate in, events at our school. Throughout the school year, students are encouraged to engage in clubs, sports and extracurricular activities to promote their social and emotional well-being.

We have an active Family School Council (https://manordaleps.ocdsb.ca/school_council) who partners with MPS to support student initiatives and implementation of learning opportunities and community connections. Please join us on the 1st Monday of the month where you can learn more about lunch programs, community events & fundraisers to support student learning. We value the diversity of our community voices and perspectives and look forward to hearing from you.

Each day, we promote student achievement and well-being through the provision of a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all learners. We support students on their unique learning journeys as they prepare for life beyond elementary school. The staff at MPS recognize that the path to each child’s future is unique and we support growth and life goals by providing collaborative and innovative learning opportunities. Students are provided with daily opportunities to collaborate with their peers, think critically about the world around them and challenge their current thinking.

At Manordale PS staff, students, families, professionals and community members work together to support students and their families in their learning journey. We welcome your questions and partnerships as we journey through learning during 2022-23.

On behalf of MPS staff, I can say that we are eager and excited to work with you to support your child’s learning and well-being!

Sincerely, your partner in your child’s education,

Richard Simpson, Principal
